Recent roles: The Track Owner in "American Beauty" director SAM MENDES' new film, "Farlanders," with JOHN KRASINSKI, MAGGIE GYLLENHALL, JEFF DANIELS and ALLISON JANNEY, and The Soulless Gunfighter in the Paul DeNigris/Steve Briscoe Western satire "Cowboy Dreams" opposite BILL ENGVALL as Wild Bill, DANNY TREJO as Loco.
Additional credits of late include the features "Jake's Corner," "Jolene," "Kids in America" and "Match.Dead"; TV , "The Cutting Edge" and the CW Network series "Hidden Palms"; shorts, "Asylum," "Twisted Soul," "Cover," "Detector," "Princess," "A Message from Your Manager," "Bad Day at the Office" and "The Stairwell".
Coming in 2009, co-starring role in the full-length feature "The Angel of Death" for Austin Nordell, Brenton Covington and Neveraverage Films and Dynamicfilm Studios.
Among future shorts: "The Mirror" (B. Covington) "No Regret" (A. Nordell).
Starred in one-character short chosen as official selection of the Phoenix Film Festival. Other recent projects have screened at various competitions including the International Horror & SciFi Festival and the Arizona State University Herberger College School of Theatre and Film Student Film Festival.
First major feature film role, cast opposite MICHAEL DOUGLAS in "Adam At 6 A.M.," a movie produced by STEVE MCQUEEN using much of the same crew that shot McQueen's car-chase classic, "BULLITT". Subsequently worked for iconic TV director WILLIAM A. GRAHAM in a CBS MOW.
Born, reared in Kansas City, Mo., hold BA in Drama (with related studies in Music and English) from University of Missouri; Woodrow Wilson Fellow nominee, taught briefly. For a number of years, lived, worked in Hollywood (resided across from where Kodak Theatre now stands).
Also wrote _ free-lanced (at one point, supplied gags for various comedians, including JOHNNY CARSON on "THE TONIGHT SHOW") and worked as newspaper reporter covering hard news (was on staff that won the 1979 PULITZER PRIZE for coverage of an airliner crash), quirky features (the highest-ranking ex-Hitler Youth in America, a Hell's Angels funeral, the world's greatest firewalker) and entertainment (many profiles, including NEIL SIMON, MIKHAIL BARYSHNIKOV, "MY FAIR LADY" composer FREDERICK LOEWE, THEODOR "DR. SEUSS" GEISEL, JAMES STEWART, CARY GRANT, GREGORY PECK, FRANK CAPRA, BILLY WILDER, ROBERT WISE, JIM CARREY, SPIKE LEE, "STAR TREK" creator GENE RODDENBERRY, "LAW & ORDER" producer DICK WOLF, ex-CBS/NBC/ABC programming chief FRED SILVERMAN, others).
WAS DISPATCHED TO THE MIDDLE EAST during the hostage crisis in Iran, and was first print journalist inside CNN during the 1991 Persian Gulf War.
Have written two books (a novel, "Ask Not," and a collection of profiles, "Alternative Endings") _ both unpublished to date _ dabbled in screenplays and composed a tune or two (have played piano since age 7).
Served as host/interviewer of many stage events and radio shows, usually with Hollywood themes ("A 'SOME LIKE IT HOT' Anniversary Celebration With Billy Wilder And I.A.L. Diamond," "An Evening With STANLEY KRAMER").
Was ongoing judge both for the Emmys and stand-up comedy competition at The Improv.
Finished journalism career as TV columnist (of The San Diego Tribune, then The Arizona Republic) and returned to acting full-time a decade ago.
Have held state and national SAG posts, am former member of National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) board of governors, Arizona Film & Media Coalition and Television Critics Association (TCA).
