Online Film Festivals - coming soon
We are currently planning a series of online short film festivals that will specialize in the genre of comedy, action-adventure, drama, horror, documentary, and experimental. Films in each of the festivals will be judged by a jury of highly regarded industry professionals, as well as the filMixer community of members. Jury and audience award winners in the various categories will have an opportunity to win cash and prizes and maybe even a pitch session with certain judges.

About the Founder - Marco Santiago Jr.

Marco began his filmmaking journey in July 2003 with a feature length documentary currently in post-production titled Into the Border. His first narrative film, El Trafico, is an award winning short film, which premiered at the 2004 Filmstock International Film Festival in the UK and was exhibited at the 2005 Scottsdale International Film Festival and the 5th annual Phoenix International Film Festival. He has since directed other shorts films such as Pecan Run, Once Upon a Time in the Desert, Diablita, which stars Jeff Fahey (Grindhouse, Wyatt Earp, Lawnmower Man, Silverdo, Delta Force, Lost ), as well as an award winning music video. He's currently in post-production of a super 16mm short film project titled Fallen Hero.

Marco is a two-time fellow of the NALIP (National Association of Latino Independent Producers) Writers Lab for 2006 and 2007 where he developed two feature film screenplays, 86, and How to Cope with Suburban Stress, which is based on a novel by David Galef. Both of these projects were finalist for consideration to the Sundance Writers Lab for 2007 and 2008, selected in the top 10% out of 2300 National and International submissions.

Marco is also a two-time fellow of the NALIP Producers Academy - In 2006 as a producing fellow and then again in 2007 as a directing fellow where he shot several scenes from his feature film in development, 86, under the mentorship of Director Luis Mandoki (Message in a Bottle, Angle Eyes, When a Man Loves a Woman, Amazing Grace, Born Yesterday, White Palace, Trapped), Alfredo De Villa (Washington Heights, Adrift in Manhattan) and by writers Miguel Tejada-Flores (Lion King, Revenge of the Nerds, Screamers, Beyond Re-Animator), Ligiah Villalobos (Under the Same Moon, Go, Diego! Go!, Walkout, Ed). 86 has since been optioned by Diana Lesmez, former President of Production at Arenas Entertainment (Empire, Nicotina, Imagining Argentina). 86 was recently featured in a five page feature article in the April issue of Indie Slate Magazine.

Marco is former CEO of AviaBid.com, the Internet’s first B2B aviation auction destination. In 2001 the Aviation Internet Directory: A guide to 500 Best Aviation Websites", published by McGraw-Hill Publishing, listed Aviabid.com among its sites. Marco attended Arizona State University where he majored in Aerospace Engineering, History, and Applied Mathematics. He also holds a B.A. in Business from Western International University. Most recently Marco took on the study of human and cultural anthropology, believing that the best stories can be told from a combination of life experiences and a profound understanding of human nature.

Marco launched filMixer in March of 2008 in the hopes of establishing a destination for the film and media professional - a place where friends and collaborations can be formed.
