Slam local film schools with your business card and your reel. If you can get a website online with your reel on it, you can forego the price of burning reel DVDs and post your reel as a video on the site.

You could also try to land internships or get a gig as an apprentice at a local post house.

There's many ways to skin the cat.

Work cheap or free, show them what you got! Checking with the local post houses is a very good idea, but beware summer is coming and thats not a good time for the film biz in Phoenix.
